THREE TIMES WORLD SOLO CHAMPION, JASON CRUMP INTO AUSTRALIAN SIDE TO CHALLENGE GREAT BRITAIN

January 14, 2020/in General News, Sponsored Riders/by Linda Russell
In a dramatic twist to the two forthcoming Australia Versus Great Britain International Friendlies at Perth’s Pinjar Park Motorcycle Speedway this coming weekend, Jason Crump, Australian 3 times World Solo Champion, has been selected as Australia’s lead rider to replace an exhausted Sam Masters who is suffering fatigue after his recent punishing Australian title campaign.

The former Australian International Speedway GP rider Jason Crump won three World Solo Championships in an illustrious career, however he only rides in selected high profile Australian events these days and quickly accepted an invitation to ride in the International Friendlies against the old foe, Great Britain at Pinjar Park Speedway in the West on Friday and Saturday evening.

It has been almost 20 years since we last saw Jason Crump race in Perth.
Jason Crump’s inclusion in the Australian side certainly bolsters their hopes of taking it up to a strong young Lions side which includes another 3 times World Solo Champion, Tai Woffinden.

Image may contain: 2 people, outdoorRohan Tungate also had to withdraw from the Australian side after his brutal Aussie title campaign, however classy South Australian rider Dakota Ballantyne was quickly snapped up by the selection panel and added to the Aussie lineup. He has previously ridden at Pinjar Park on both tracks. He loves the confines of the small track and will be hard to beat in round one on Friday evening at this venue. He has also performed well on the free flowing 330m track and will be a great inclusion in the Aussie side.

Western Australian International Cam Heeps who recently returned from another very successful season in the UK racing for the Ipswich Witches was in scintillating form at his first ride back on Australian soil when he won the Solo Final at the recent Jeff Gittus Memorial meeting at Pinjar Park. Cam will be the anchor for Australia and his workload on both nights will be huge.

Another South Australian Fraser Bowes has been bought into the Australian side to replace WA rider; Doug Scoble, who has had to withdraw due to out of town work commitments.
Fraser is the grandson of Former Australian Sidecar Champion Len Bowes, a tough and fearless racer who dominated sidecar racing in SA and Australia for many years. Fraser has previously raced at Pinjar Park as a junior, winning the Australian 125cc Championship at this venue.

Fraser will join two West Australian hotshots, former WA Champion, Dan Winchester and Kale Ballantyne.

Image may contain: 1 person, standing and outdoorDan is enjoying a great season and has a new fresh engine for this meeting after popping one at the Perth Motorplex at his last outing a week ago. Kale Ballantyne certainly knows how to get around both the tight 142m tack and the fast flowing 330m long track and will throw everything into his racing to bag some handy points for the home team.

Graeme Sinden from “Talking About Speedway” said he was delighted with the changes to the Australian line up. “I believe the new look Australian lineup is as good or better than the original team and it hasn’t gotten any easier for Great Britain to win against our boys. All riders are in great shape and it is good to have riders who can step up and gain experience at this level”.

Speedway Motorcycle Club of WA President Marshall McDiarmid said he supported the changes to the lineup and congratulated Mark Lemon for being able to turn things around quickly and assist the club to select this strong new look side at late notice.
Marshall said, “It’s is a credit to him and his commitment to speedway. I think the inclusion of Jason Crump, Dakota Ballantyne and Fraser Bowes are fantastic and the new look side looks very well balanced on paper”.

Marshall went on, “A big thanks to Ian Sinderson from APTI for his quick response and personal involvement in helping to pull all these great riders together and also the Bennco Group for their valuable sponsorship of the event”.

2020 AUSTRALIAN F1 AND F2 SIDECAR CHAMPIONSHIP EXPANDED

January 14, 2020/in General News, Sponsored Riders/by Linda Russell

The 2020 Horsell Australian F1 and F2 Sidecar Championship will be expanded to five rounds, including for the first time at The Bend Motorsport Park, South Australia.

The Australian F1 and F2 Sidecar Championship will also return to Barbagallo Raceway, Western Australia after a three-year hiatus, alongside Kings of Wanneroo.

With continued support from Horsell and Pagid Brakepads, the 2020 season is shaping up to be hard fought battle in both F1 and F2 sidecar categories.

Motorcycling Australia Road Race Events Manager, Liz Galazkiewicz, said the 2020 Horsell F1 and F2 Sidecar Championship expansion would provide spectators with an even better show.

“We are very excited to have the Australian F1 and F2 Sidecar Championship appearing for the first time at The Bend Motorsport Park as well as returning to Western Australia’s Barbagallo Raceway,” she said.

“We know both the Bend Motorsport Park and Barbagallo Raceway will attract strong fields and good crowds to witness these fearless men and women of the Sidecar Championship.

“MA would like to extend our thanks to Motorcycle Sportsmen of QLD (Masters of Morgan Park), Pheonix Club (Adelade 3 Hour), and Motor Cycle Racing Club of WA (Kings of Wanneroo) for inviting the Championship to join their existing events.”

“Thank you to Jeff Brown for reaching out to the clubs and creating the relationship for the Championship to run alongside their events. Having the opportunity to attend three of the biggest club promoted events in the country is an honour and really demonstrates the spectacle that Sidecar racing is and helps create a diverse Championship.”

“There is strong commitment from teams for the expanded competition and we are proud to again have the support of Horsell and Pagid Brakepads for the Australian F1 and F2 Sidecar Championship.”

The 2019 Championship saw young gun brothers Corey and Danyon Turner crowned F1 Sidecar Champions ahead of WA’s Jero Joyce and Corey Blackman in 2nd and former Champions Howard Ford and Lee Menzies 3rd, and no doubt the battle for the 2020 title will be just as intense.

The Clancy family dominated F2 Sidecars with Pat Clancy and Steve Bonney finishing on top, John Clancy and Warren Grubb second, and Mick Alton and Chrissy Clancy third.

Two rounds of the Championship will run with the Australian Superbike Championship and one with Masters of Morgan Park.

2020 Australian F1 and F2 Sidecar Championship Calendar:
Round 1: 27-29 March – Wakefield Park Raceway – ASBK
Round 2: 15-17 May – Morgan Park Raceway – Masters of Morgan Park
Round 3: 19-21 June – The Bend Motorsport Park – Adelaide 3 Hour

2020 National Motocross Dates Confirmed

January 14, 2020/in General News/by Linda Russell

Motorcycling Australia and Williams Event Management have today released the 2020 Australian Motocross National Championship calendar.

The series will be conducted over six weekends with 9 rounds/3 double headers.

A number of factors have required changes to the 2020 calendar particularly around community, rider and spectator safety.

We had planned the MX Nationals Pro Am at Traralgon in February for the Australian Women’s Vets and Under 19’s. But due to the extreme dry weather conditions and high fire danger risk we have cancelled the Traralgon event and hope to reschedule it in the coming months.

There have been some major changes to the championship over the last five years, and we will see some changes again next year to fit within the current climate.

The 2020 Australian Motocross National Championship dates are:
Round 1 & 2 Horsham, Victoiria April 4/5
Round 3 Newry, Victoria May 3
Round 4 Gympie, Qld May 24
Round 5 Conondale, QLD June 28
Round 6 & 7 Maitland, NSW July 25/26
Round 8 & 9 Coolum, QLD August 22/23

The series will see several changes in order to ensure the future development and progress of the sport.

All rounds will have 2 moto format only, and other changes are being considered.

The supplementary regulation will be release in the first week of February.

Who Are Global Automotive Distributors?

December 16, 2019/in General News/by admin

We would like to take the opportunity to introduce GAD (Global Automotive Distributors) and the Joylong E6 Electric Bus.

In May 2018, GAD brought into Australia (Perth, WA) the Joylong E6 14seat electric bus.  Our manufacturer partner, Joylong has delivered over 14,000 various units to 59 countries throughout the world in the last five (5) years.

GAD (Global Automotive Distributors) has carried out testing of the E6 electric bus extensively over all types of road conditions including severe testing on our harsh road conditions. GAD wanted to be sure that our product would stand up to the testing that has been carried out and must say GAD has been very impressed with the durability of the E6 electric bus.

GAD (Global Automotive Distributors) are the first “Western” country Joylong have dealt with and GAD has formed a very solid relationship with Joylong due to our expertise with vehicles in the Australian market. Global Automotive Distributors have successfully over the last two years in conjunction with the manufacturer obtained Australian Design Rule (ADR) Approval which enables us to import and retail the vehicles.

GAD (Global Automotive Distributors) have the importation rights, through a Distributorship agreement, for Australia and New Zealand for a range of Joylong Electric light commercial vehicles.

The quality and fit and finish of this bus far exceeds previous entries from Chinese manufacturers into Australia. People in the industry have placed orders for vehicles with the intention of taking more.

GAD (Global Automotive Distributors) have appointed dealers in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and are due to receive their stock in early 2020.

There are three more models, vans, which we are now working on for Australian Design Rule certification and this is expected to be achieved in 2020.

Together, Joylong and GAD (Global Automotive Distributors) are committed to building a quieter and cleaner environment for future generations.

WORLD CHAMPION TAI WOFFINDEN TO RACE AT PINJAR PARK THIS WEEKEND

December 12, 2019/in General News/by Linda Russell

Two times British Champion, three times World Champion, twice winner of The Rob Woffinden Classic and current Western Australian Speedway Solo Champion Tai Woffinden is in town and booked to race at the fabulous Pinjar Park circuit this weekend.

Tai will race this Saturday night at the Pinjar Park Motorcycle Speedway in Neerubup in Perths northern suburbs for the running of the Rob Woffinden Classic. He has previously won the title twice and is the defending RWC Champion.

Joining Tai Woffinden will be three other British riders who together form a British Team who will contest a series of events against a strong West Australian side.

Team GB include:
Jack Smith, son of former British Champ, Andy Smith.
Leon Flint, the 16 year old Berwick Bandits flyer
Drew Kemp 2019 British under 19 CHAMPION.

Headlining the Team WA will be former International rider, Frank Smart, the in form Dan Winchester and Matt Marson.

Tai is down under in the Southern hemisphere for some R & R to recover from a bruising European season and his World Grand Prix commitments. He will head back to the UK in the new year, however while in Perth he gives of his time to perform in a couple of shows for his WA fans, much to our delight.

To view Graeme Sinden’s interview with Tai click HERE

Tai set the Pinjar Park track on fire last January winning the RWC and the WA State Championship and was responsible for some of the largest crowds the new track has seen in its relatively short existence.

This is a great opportunity to see Tai Woffinden and his fellow British team mates perform, an opportunity we don’t get to see often in Perth, and we urge you not to miss this Saturday nights spectacular speedway meeting.

JEFF LEISK WILL HAND REINS TO BRAD HAGI

November 13, 2019/in General News/by Linda Russell

Jeff Leisk will leave his role as general manager of KTM Group handing the reins to Brad Hagi who is currently President KTM Southeast Asia.

After more than 25 years of association with the KTM and Husqvarna Motorcycles brands, current KTM Group General Manager Jeff Leisk has announced that he will be retiring from an active role with the KTM Group at the end of the first quarter next year.

Jeff will leave his role as general manager of KTM Group handing the reins to Brad Hagi who is currently President KTM Southeast Asia. Jeff will remain with the company until the 1st April 2020 to ensure a smooth transition.

A former multiple Australian motocross champion and world ranked number 2 by the FIM in 1988, Jeff moved into the corporate world in the early 1990s and worked with KTM as an ambassador before taking a full-time role within the business in July 2000.

“It has been an incredibly enjoyable and rewarding experience for me and I am grateful for the support that I have received and the friendships that have been built with our customers, dealers and of course the media” said Jeff.

“Together with the team in Australia and New Zealand, we have established a strong network and an enviable reputation across all segments to become leading brands in the market. I am confident that the KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles and WP Suspension brands will continue to grow in this Oceania market under Brad’s leadership. With the recent sale of the business to the KTM Group, it is an appropriate time for me to take a break from the sport and the industry that I have loved and been a part of for the last 45 years.  I am very much looking forward to continuing with my passion for motorcycling on a personal level” he said.

Brad Hagi comes to the Oceania market with a wealth of global experience. He started his tenure with the company in the role of Vice President of Sales at KTM North America whilst his most recent roles include President KTM Japan and President KTM Southeast Asia. Brad is currently based in Singapore and will relocate to Sydney early next year.

“I am looking forward to moving to Australia and further developing the KTM Group brands in both the Australian and New Zealand market. An important factor of the success that has been achieved in these markets with the KTM, Husqvarna Motorcycles and WP Suspension brands is due to the  strong relationships that have been built with our dealers and of course our customers, I look forward to continuing this” said Brad.

SUPERBIKES JOIN SUPERCARS FOR BLOCKBUSTER PERTH EVENT

November 13, 2019/in General News/by Linda Russell
Motorcycling Australia and Supercars are proud to announce the Motul Pirelli Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) will join with the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship for a massive two-wheel plus four-wheel motorsport event at the Pirtek Perth SuperNight, to be held May 15 – 17, 2020. This spectacular concept brings together both two and four-wheeled fans to witness a weekend of action-packed racing and loads of off-track activities.

The two championships will join forces at the iconic Barbagallo Raceway, which also sets the stage for the ASBK’s first appearance at the Western Australian venue since 2016. The undulating 2.411km layout has always produced fantastic racing for both championships and has never failed to draw a passionate WA crowd and fans from across the country. Now with the National Superbike Class supporting the Supercars day/night format, this motorsport spectacular is not to be missed.

The ASBK last visited the Barbagallo circuit in 2016.

After working on the two-plus-four format for some time, Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle is pleased to see the partnership with Supercars cemented for 2020.

“Combining two championship events such as Supercars and ASBK is an exciting endeavour and requires a great deal of coordination,” Mr Doyle said.

“I’d like to thank all those who helped bring it together and I’m really looking forward to seeing all the action in WA next year.

“The Barbagallo Wanneroo circuit has always been well-attended for both two and four-wheeled motorsport events, Western Australia is a highly important region for Motorcycling Australia, the motorcycle industry and ASBK partners, so it’s great to bring the nation’s fastest riders back to WA in front of a big and enthusiastic audience of race fans.”

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said it was a great opportunity for the two sports to be hosted together at the one venue.

“It’s great to be doing an event with the ASBK Championship. We look forward to working with them in Perth to put on an amazing show for fans of both two and four-wheels,” Mr Seamer said.

Further details of the Pirtek Perth SuperNight, including the event schedule, will be announced early in 2020.
